Tuesday 04Mar - Important for Visitors

Today was a much better day than yesterday. Brian had a packed schedule today and he did participate in all his therapies which was so great to see after how yesterday went.

One very important update is his neuropsychologist recommended no visitors until we can determine the trigger for yesterday's behavior. That behavior he exhibited really can't happen again. Although he was in the facility and with the staff that could keep him safe, it was incredibly unsafe for everyone involved, including Brian. So until further notice, please do not come and visit Brian. This applies to Lincoln and to me, to an extent. Brian has asked me to be there as much as possible and I need to be available as his proxy to help in any decision making, but I also am very cognizant of his behavior and knowing when he has had too much stimulation and when he needs some quiet time. I am always very aware of when it is time for me to step away.

Right now it is very important for the staff to build trust with Brian in order to best understand how to treat him and sometimes it is best for them to have some time with Brian when no one else is there. That helps him to start to trust them and to know that they are there to help Brian get home.

Yesterday really helped to solidify that we do still have a very long road ahead of us, and while most days are great and amazing, not all of them are. We are still very much in the recovery phase and it's still going to take a while and gonna still have difficult days.

  1. I'm so glad yesterday was a better day, even though you know that isn't the normal Brian and that he is still healing from injuries to his brain, I'm sure that has to be so difficult and painful to experience. Hang in there on the hard days, we all wish we could be there to give you a big hug. I know it's been said a million times, but you are doing an incredible job with how you have handled this with patience and resilience and I'm sure days like Monday can be defeating. Praying for better days ahead, we love you!
