Happy Wednesday!
Brian had a great day today. He apathy was greatly improved and he was actually seemingly excited to participate in his therapies today! He started the day today with some time ADLs with his OT. As a reminder this is assisted daily living activities, so think just normal getting ready for the day activities. Then he had his routine speech therapy. After speech therapy he had an exercise session in the gym again with that recumbent bicycle. He did really well with that and enjoyed that. Then we went right to another speech session. This time was with his adaptive technology speech therapist who is also the program coordinator. She is so awesome and I really like when Brian has sessions with her because I enjoy her so much.
Then this afternoon Brian had PT and did some more walking on that harness treadmill. Today she worked him a little harder and he had to do some uphill walking and side stepping. The side stepping was really difficult for Brian and he said it was hard. It really wore out his legs too. His PT gave Brian another stretch to try and work on to help his hips relax a little bit because one hip especially looked really tight while he was walking.
Brian's behavioral specialist also monitored his PT session and after the session said that Brian's been doing so much better behaviorally over the last few days (which of course I have also seen and mentioned in the blog, but it is nice to hear the team has also noticed this) and she is going to start to remove some of the additions she made from last week. So that is super awesome to hear and Brian is definitely moving in the right direction. Brian asked at the end of that PT session about his lock belt on the wheelchair and I pointed to his behavioral specialist and said she was the one to work with to get it removed. She then said just to continue the good work and it will come off.
So a great Wednesday today!
