Sorry this is so late tonight!
Today Brian had OT which went so well! This was his first session since he got his sling removed last week. I’m also not sure if I have ever put it in the blog or not (this is a recurring theme since I can’t remember what makes it on here and what doesn’t) but Brian’s OT that he sees in outpatient is our sister in law. It’s so nice to see her because she is obviously very familiar with his whole history and Brian obviously really trusts her. To start today, Brian did some stretches on both shoulders. He then did some range of motion exercises using a dowel, which are also part of his homework. That went so well that Megan had him try some golf swings. He first started out with about a 25% swing and since that went well and wasn’t causing any pain, he moved to a 50% swing. He did really well with that and is excited to be able to start doing more of that as part of his homework too. Megan said he can do these at home but we have to be careful he doesn’t chunk it and hit the ground. That wouldn’t be good for his shoulder to have that much resistance right now. So before he can take swings in the yard, he needs to mow (which he has already been doing, so that’s no issue). Then Brian finished the session with some time on the arm bike. He is also able to use this to warm up his shoulders if we get there early for his sessions. He said when he was done that it felt good, so he will probably be motivated to do that as a warm up from now on.
