Sorry I'm a few days late again!
We had a busy busy week last week! Monday, Lincoln had his first basketball practice and he's so excited to be back playing basketball. The downside of basketball is it is on Mondays which is also when I have my Silent Book Club that I host. Luckily his practice is at Lincoln's school which is very close to the house. We decided that we could have Brian and Lincoln ride bikes to and from practice so that I can still do book club and Lincoln can still do practice. Brian's not supposed to do any helmeted activities until a year post injury, but we are going to break the rule just for riding to school. But Brian hadn't ridden a bike since the accident so this weekend he tried it out and it was a piece of cake. After he rode around the street he said, "just like riding a bike."
Other than that Brian also had his typical OT appointments where he worked on strengthening his shoulder, worked on throwing, did some work type activities, and also did some agility work. We also had an appointment last week at Craig for Brian to get medical approval for the next step on his return to driving program. That went great (which I had expected) since Brian doesn't have a medical reason, other than the TBI, not to drive. Brian did get the approval he needed so he is cleared to move on to the next step!
Then Friday was Halloween, which is my favorite holiday! I am alone in my love for Halloween in our household though. This year Lincoln dressed up as a person riding a capybara and his costume was absolutely hilarious. He didn't want to go trick or treating this year so we planned on skipping that. But one of Lincoln's classmates came to the house and demanded he come with them. So we did end up going out for a little bit.
Then in addition to Brian practicing riding his bike, I attempted my first loaves of sourdough! I know I'm late to this trend, but I am so excited to be making bread. I started my own starter and it's probably ready to use now, but making my loaves this weekend I used a started gifted to me by one of my coworkers. I am so excited to make some more loaves this weekend too! I have started the hobby by first collecting starters (I have FIVE different starters going now). My starters are all very special to me and I'm so excited to see how different they all taste from each other! I have my starter, her name is Aida after my great-great-grandmother and she is now about 3 weeks old, I have the starter my coworker Mai gave me that I named Mai-Phuong (Mai for my coworker and Phuong meaning phoenix in Vietnamese since Mai is Vietnamese) and she is 5 years old, I also have one that my sister in law gifted me that I named Indigo (because I like the name Indigo and it is a species of macaw) and she is about 10 years old. In addition to these I also purchased 2 from Etsy; one is 1000 years old from Wales and I named her Delyth (meaning beautiful in Welsh), and the other is 5000 years old from Egypt and I named her Tiye (King Tut's Grandma's name).
We also got our Christmas tree up on Sunday (we still need to put ornaments on the tree) and we also got new puppies on Sunday! Our previous pups got adopted on Saturday so we got a new set of two and these ones are CUTE! We named them Gravy and Maple.
